Claw Zone Mesa, Arizona: GachaShop Capsule Machines, SMISKI & Labubu

After visiting ClawZania, Claw Haus, and Claw Party, our next stop was Claw Zone in Mesa. The arcade sits in a shopping center surrounded by Asian restaurants, markets, and specialty businesses, making it the perfect setting for an arcade centered around Japanese collectible culture.

For this visit, we focused on the collectible toy trend we've been seeing across Arizona arcades, including SMISKI, Sonny Angel, Labubu, and POP MART blind boxes. Claw Zone also featured something we hadn't seen at the previous three locations—an entire row of branded GachaShop capsule vending machines dispensing colorful gashapon collectibles.

A Dedicated GachaShop Experience

The first thing that caught our attention was Claw Zone's dedicated GachaShop Token Exchange surrounded by rows of authentic Japanese-style gashapon capsule vending machines. Instead of trying to win a prize, every turn guarantees a collectible capsule—the mystery is discovering which item from the series you'll receive.

From miniature accessories and kawaii collectibles to licensed characters and unique Japanese designs, the GachaShop section brought a completely different experience than the traditional claw machines found throughout the arcade.

Sanrio Characters, Miniatures & Kawaii Surprises

Looking closer, each machine offered a completely different collectible series. We spotted Kuromi and other Sanrio character designs, a miniature balloon display set, small craft and lifestyle accessories, and a colorful Hello Kitty-themed collection. The original Japanese lettering and illustrated product cards made browsing the machines feel like exploring a capsule toy shop in Japan.

Bright pink, blue, green, yellow and purple capsules filled the lower bins, while glowing multicolor LED rings surrounded every turning handle. Once you picked a collection, the only mystery was which miniature collectible or character would be waiting inside your capsule.

Beyond Gashapon: Today's Most Sought-After Collectibles

Moving beyond the GachaShop machines, we found many of the same collectibles that have become favorites among fans of Japanese and Asian-inspired designer toys. On display were SMISKI Strap Accessories Series 2 and Series 3, along with two of POP MART's most recognizable Labubu THE MONSTERS collections: Exciting Macaron and Have A Seat. These blind boxes have become especially popular with collectors looking to complete entire series or uncover the mystery figure hidden inside.

Instead of generic novelty prizes, Claw Zone showcased collectible brands that many enthusiasts actively seek out, making the arcade feel as much like a boutique toy shop as a place to play games.

Collector's Corner

A Collector's Corner Worth Exploring

Behind the counter, Claw Zone opened into an even larger display filled with SMISKI, Labubu, Sonny Angel, Crybaby, and POP MART collectibles. The illuminated shelves and neatly arranged blind boxes made the area feel more like a specialty toy boutique than a traditional arcade prize counter.

We also noticed signs stating that POP MART items were the same price as in-store, giving collectors another reason to stop and browse.
