Inside the Mavrix Prize Vault in Scottsdale: A Redemption Prize Tour
As part of our ongoing tour of Arizona arcades and redemption centers, including the Peter Piper Pizza arcade in Prescott and Claw Party in Glendale , we recently visited Mavrix in Scottsdale. Our main reason for visiting was to explore the Mavrix Prize Vault and see how its redemption prizes are selected, displayed, and organized.
The Prize Vault features an impressive mix of affordable ticket prizes, colorful arcade classics, plush, retro favorites, and premium licensed collectibles. During our visit, we photographed everything from expanding spheres, pixel swords, and oversized balls to merchandise featuring Hello Kitty, Pac-Man, Marvel, Star Wars, Pokémon, and many other recognizable brands.
Mavrix in Scottsdale
Mavrix is a large Scottsdale entertainment complex with bowling, dining, arcade games, and other attractions. We were not there to bowl, though—we came specifically to explore the Prize Vault and study its redemption prize selection, layout, and presentation.
Walking Into the Arcade
Before reaching the Prize Vault, we walked through Mavrix's expansive arcade. The game floor features redemption games, racing simulators, and a brightly lit row of claw machines. The open layout naturally guides guests toward the Prize Vault while offering plenty of opportunities to earn tickets along the way.
Arriving at the Prize Vault
As we walked through the arcade, we soon arrived at the Mavrix Prize Vault—the destination we had come to review. From the outside, it immediately stood apart from a traditional arcade redemption counter with its bright entrance, open layout, and retail-style presentation.
Instead of displaying prizes behind a long counter, Mavrix has created a walk-in redemption store where guests can browse shelves filled with plush, toys, licensed collectibles, and other prizes. Before even stepping inside, it was clear the Prize Vault was designed to be an experience of its own rather than simply a place to redeem tickets.
First Impressions
Stepping inside the Mavrix Prize Vault, we were immediately greeted by a clean, brightly lit redemption store with an organized retail-style layout. One of the first things that caught our attention was the iconic Kool-Aid Man, a fun reminder that retro brands continue to have a place among redemption prizes.
Below the Kool-Aid Man sat bins filled with colorful balls, while oversized rainbow balls added even more visual impact near the ceiling. Along the walls, shelves were packed with games, collectibles, licensed merchandise, and prizes across a wide range of ticket values. We spent the next several minutes exploring each section in detail.
Using Color to Draw Attention
One merchandising strategy that immediately stood out was Mavrix's use of bright, colorful redemption prizes to create visual impact throughout the Prize Vault. Instead of hiding balls in a corner, the arcade features both a tall acrylic display filled with rainbow playground balls and soccer balls, along with a large floor bin overflowing with oversized sports balls. The combination adds height, color, and energy to the room while making classic redemption prizes impossible to miss.
Surrounding these colorful displays are shelves filled with licensed merchandise, including Pokémon, Spider-Man, Care Bears, Pac-Man, Monopoly, and other recognizable brands. By combining inexpensive visual anchors with higher-value collectibles, Mavrix creates a prize area that feels more like a retail toy store than a traditional arcade redemption counter while giving players exciting rewards at every ticket level.

Mavrix does not rely entirely on expensive licensed merchandise. The Prize Vault also includes a strong wall of lower-ticket redemption prizes, including blister-pack toys, activity items, sports prizes, and colorful novelties that players can realistically earn during a single visit.
The expandable Hoberman-style sphere remains one of the strongest choices in this tier. It has been a redemption staple for years because it is colorful, interactive, easy to understand, and feels substantial for the number of tickets required.
The pixel sword is another smart addition. Pixel-style toys continue to connect with the popularity of Minecraft and gaming culture, giving operators an affordable prize that still feels current and exciting. Together, these products create an attainable prize tier without making the selection feel inexpensive or outdated.
Licensed Brands Give Players Something to Save For
After the lower-ticket prize wall, the selection naturally moves into licensed merchandise and higher-value rewards. These are the prizes that encourage players to keep collecting tickets rather than redeeming everything immediately.
One wall brings together Hello Kitty plush, character accessories, Pac-Man, Mario Kart, Nintendo games, and retro-inspired collectibles. Like the Kool-Aid Man near the entrance, the mix shows how nostalgia can appeal to adults while still feeling current to younger players.
The opposite wall expands into Star Wars, Spider-Man, Batman, Pokémon, Atari, video games, headphones, and premium collectibles. The selection covers several ticket levels, giving guests a clear path from affordable prizes to larger rewards worth saving for.
What Mavrix Gets Right About Redemption
Throughout our visit, one thing became clear: the Mavrix Prize Vault is thoughtfully curated. From colorful balls and classic redemption staples like Hoberman spheres to trendy pixel toys, retro favorites, licensed collectibles, plush, games, and premium rewards, every prize category serves a purpose and gives players something exciting to work toward.
What impressed us most wasn't any single prize—it was the presentation. Every wall feels intentional. Color, spacing, lighting, and product placement work together to create a retail experience instead of a simple prize counter. Whoever designed the Prize Vault clearly understands how to blend timeless redemption staples, current trends, licensed brands, and premium rewards into a display that keeps players engaged and excited to earn more tickets.
